“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?”

  • What days of the week can you volunteer for home building days?
Volunteer days for our building projects are usually between Wednesday to Fridays but we sometimes have weekend build days too.
  • Where are your home-build projects located?
Our build projects are located all over Victoria. You will need to contact us to find out where we're currently building.
  • Do I need to bring my own tools?
If you're assisting as a Skilled Habitat Volunteer, you will need to bring your own tools as you will probably be working on a set project. If you're assisting as a Habitat or Corporate Volunteer, you just need to turn up on the day and everything will be provided.
  • How long do I volunteer for on the build projects?
Most of our build volunteer days start at around 8.45am and finish at 3.30pm. Some projects may finish earlier if the work is completed.
  • What do I need to wear on build projects?
You will need to wear enclosed shoes (preferably sturdy boots with steel caps if you have them) with non-slip rubber soles and flat heels. Protective clothing suitable for getting dirty. No jewellery other than a watch and wedding band and no contact lenses due to dusty environments.
  • What shifts are available for ReStore?
Our Kilsyth ReStore has morning shifts available from 9am – 1pm and afternoon shifts from 12.30pm – 4.30pm Monday to Friday and Saturday from 10am-3pm. You'll be assisting on a regular shift across the week but are able to work for the whole day or more than one shift in the week. Our Rosebud store has flexible times available where you can assist.
  • Do I need experience to assist at ReStore?
It's great if you have experience or skills in certain roles but it's not essential. We have a great training program that will provide you with the skills for the job. Some of our roles require licences such as our Test and Tag and Truck Driver roles.
  • Do I need to be able to do heavy lifting at ReStore?
We have a variety of roles and a number of them do not require lifting heavy objects. As we do have furniture and other heavy items we're always looking for team members who are comfortable with some lifting.
  • What do the different roles do at ReStore?
If you would like a position description for all the Volunteer positions available, then please email our Volunteer Coordinator at fsmith@habitat.org.au for more details.
